What to expect
The first session will be mainly an evaluation of your problem and I will take a thorough history. Sessions afterwards will be between 60-90 minutes and most clients will need between 3-6 sessions consisting of interventions selected for their specific problems.

How can you help me with my phobias?
Phobias are unecessary or excessive anxiety in a specific situation or to a specific object, for instance:
- fear of flying in a plane
- fear of spiders
- fear of dogs
How can you help me with panic attacks and generalised anxiety?
Anxiety is driven by adrenalin which is produced in the body during stressful situations and trying to resist the panic or anxiety just increases it. Anxiety is all about anticipation, so with Cognitive Hypnotherapy we can help you look back on your situation as though it is in the past, therefore taking the stress out of it. Again I will make an individualised treatment plan unique to your set of problems and dealing with the trigger of your panic.
How can you help me have more confidence and be able to speak in public without feeling nervous?
We all have nerves or problems with confidence before an important event such as exams, public speaking or performing on stage but some people experience crippling amounts that interfere with their life and their performance. Confidence problems often begin in childhood and get re-inforced during your life so a detailed history would need to be taken and methods used which are individual to you with some techniques taught to you that can be performed by yourself during the time between appointments, therefore empowering you to eventually be able to use cognitive hypnotherapy on your own after treatment is finished. Cognitive Hypnotherapy can transform your life by improving your confidence. Just imagine being able to stand up infront of work colleagues and giving a lively, engaging presentation with an air of confidence that impresses your audience.
How can you help me reduce stress?
Stress in itself is not harmful, it is a natural response but large amounts can make you ill. The difference between a stressful situation and a challenging situation is our perception of it so Cognitive Hypnotherapy is an ideal tool to change perception.

How can you help me stop smoking because I smoke to calm myself down?
Cigarettes actually contain 4000 chemicals of which some are highly toxic, when these are inhaled your body pumps out adrenalin (The stress hormone) giving you a buzz. The reason you feel calmer is because you breathe deeply which increases oxygen levels and you tend to stop what you are doing which calms you down. Five minutes of deep breathing would calm you down as much. Hypnotherapy can effectively reduce your psychological needs for cigarettes in about 3-5 sessions. A packet of cigarettes costs £7.20, that's £2,600 a year that you would save. Clients would need to be committed to giving up smoking for Cognitive Hypnotherapy to work.
How can you help me lose weight?
Weight problems have their root in your psychological relationship with food so this has to be tackled before weight loss can be achieved. Dieting can make you binge eat afterwards because the mind can't tell the difference between a diet and a famine, you binge eat to store up energy supplies incase you are starved again.
